Delhi elections get running with ‘iRunDilli’ by Geek Mentors Studios

With Delhi elections round the corner, political parties are leaving no stone unturned to make sure that their party comes out victorious. Based around the same setting, Delhi based studio Geek Mentors has come up with a game, iRunDilli, where three leaders are running to gather as much points as possible.

Geek Mentors was found in 2011 and was majorly teaching animation and gaming to students and they got into social media gaming when they launched the game ‘Angry Anna’.

Talking to AnimationXpress.com, Naim Siddiqui from the Geek Mentors Studios explained, “Our games are not from the prospective of revenues or for any clients. The idea behind Angry Anna was that since everyone could not go to Ramlila Maidan to support Anna, so they could show their support digitally via the game. The game became viral and we started a FaceBook community called Garbage Bin, where we keep posting gags and memes.

iRunDilli is an endless runner game where the user can select one of the three available players : Arvind Kejriwal, Kiran Bedi or Rahul Gandhi. To proceed, the players have to run and jump over the disconnected roads and obstacles including giant hands, women cops with lathi sticks and opponents with brooms. Most of the obstacles are symbolic representation of the various political elements constituting the electoral arena. Along the way, the player can collect coins, health packs and jet packs.

Talking further about the game, Naim expounds, “Delhi elections are very comic and humorous in nature and with all the spats on the streets, we thought why not gauge into people’s mood. We wanted to send a clear message through this initiative that cast your vote because you cannot have a city, state or a country running without a government.”

The game was developed in a week’s time and style of the game takes has a nostalgic feel of the NES era games. The music too is very similar to those times and reminds one of the Mario games.

“Concept behind iRunDilli is that we as people should all run (govern) the Delhi. In the game we have tried to create a humorous game wherein you support your leader in a very fun way and supporting does not mean shouting and screaming names of the leaders but there are different ways to support also,” reveals Naim.

Further speaking about the game updates, “We received a lot of request via Garbage Bin that we introduce the main character of Garbage Bin Guddu in the game but we still haven’t taken a call on that.”

Previously, too Geek Mentors Studios have developed game around political people, “Before this we had a game called Power Slap, which was again based when people were slapping the politician. Violence in any form is bad, and so with this game we came up with an idea where you could slap a politician as much as you want,” Naim ends.

Geek Mentors are planning to launch a cricket game around IPL and a snake and ladder game but with a twist.
