Warner Bros. animated film ‘Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind’ gets a new trailer

Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind is the latest Mortal Kombat animated film from Warner Bros. The new trailer of the film unveils the story of the blind swordsman Kenshi. The focus of the new movie will be Kenshi as he stands up against Kano, who is determined to have all of Earthrealm succumb to him. When Kenshi is brutally defeated by Kano and loses his sight as a result, he seeks guidance from the veteran warrior Kuai Liang to reinvent himself as an effective defender of the Earthrealm.

The trailer begins with Kano invading and forcing Kenshi’s community to surrender to him as their new king. He quickly begins killing his way to power alongside a group of other well-known Mortal Kombat characters, including Kabal and Shang Tsung, while displaying some of the blood and gore the franchise is known for. After being tricked by Shang Tsung, Kenshi is blinded by a rush of souls from within a well in his haste to discover a means to vanquish them and save the people. This moment smashes his spirit and ushers at the beginning of his hero’s journey. He turns to Kuai Liang for assistance to save himself after discovering an ancestor’s sword that can lead him without sight. While reluctant to take on the undisciplined Kenshi as a student, Liang does so and appears to become fonder of the boy as he transforms him into a righteous defender of the Earthrealm.

In the second half of the trailer, Kenshi, a fan favourite from the entire Mortal Kombat franchise, puts his skills on full show. He engages in combat with the other forces of the outworld before going up against Kano. Even though the ending demonstrates that it doesn’t always work out for him, the animation used by Kenshi to demonstrate what he has learnt is outstanding. Kano’s forces capture him and hang him from a tree, yet he seems unaffected by the circumstance. Audiences get a quick glimpse of his saviour Sub-Zero, alias Kuai Lang, who forgoes retirement and intervenes to save his student by bringing in a blast of cold.

The voice cast includes Manny Jacinto, David Wenham, Keith Silverstein, Yuri Lowenthal, Ron Yuan, Courtenay Taylor, Artt Butler, Imari Williams, Debra Wilson and Patrick Seitz. Rick Morales has directed the film written by Jeremy Adams.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind will be released later this year.
