Project submission deadline for 50th Annie Awards is 13 December

ASIFA-Hollywood recently announced the call for entries, deadlines and other rules for its 50th Annual Annie Awards recognising the year’s best in the field of animation. The live ceremony will take place on Saturday, 25 February 2023 at UCLA’s Royce Hall, Los Angeles, CA.

The Annie Awards covers 37 categories and include best animated feature, best animated feature-independent, special productions, sponsored films, short subjects, student films and outstanding individual achievements, as well as the honorary juried awards.

Entries submitted for consideration must be from productions that were released or aired in the United States between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022. In the event that a production is completed in the current Annie Award year but has not been released or submitted in time for consideration in that year, the project will be able to qualify for submission in the following year. The deadline to finalise Annie Award submissions is 13 December.

A further exception will be allowed for Annie Award official film festival partners: Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival, and Animafest Zagreb. Grand Prize winners from these film festival partners may submit their winning films in the corresponding Production Categories without incurring entry fees.

Other films that qualified for festival consideration but did not take grand prizes may also submit to the Annies without having US distribution, but usual fees will be required. In lieu of being released, student films must have been completed between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2022. For other details, one can follow the official website of Annie Awards.

Created in 1972 by veteran voice talent June Foray, the Annie Awards have grown in scope and stature for five decades.
