Veteran Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki’s award-winning and popular 1997 film, Princess Mononoke is coming back to the US cinemas as the next event at Studio Ghibli Fest 2018 by GKIDS and Fathom Events.
Princess Mononoke is an epic 1997 tale of wild gods and nature spirits clashing with the iron fist of human ingenuity in feudal Japan. It has dazzled audiences worldwide with its breathtaking imagination, exhilarating battles, and deep humanity. The story goes:
Inflicted with a deadly curse, the young warrior Ashitaka heads West in search of a cure. There, he stumbles into a bitter conflict between Lady Eboshi, the proud people of Iron Town, and the enigmatic Princess Mononoke, a young girl raised by wolves, who will stop at nothing to prevent the humans from destroying her home and the forest spirits and animal gods who live there.
This fan-favourite fantasy adventure will be screened on 22, 23 and 25 July in more than 700 participating theaters. The screenings will be dubbed in English, while one will be in Japanese presented with English subtitles.
The English voice cast has noted names such as—Claire Danes, Billy Crudup, Minnie Driver, Gillian Anderson, Billy Bob Thornton and Keith David.
