The ghosts are back on the guest list. Netflix’s adult animated comedy Haunted Hotel is checking into season two on 9 October, reopening the doors of the haunted Undervale Hotel for another round of supernatural mayhem.
Created by Matt Roller, the Rick and Morty writer, the series follows a single mother of two trying to keep the Undervale afloat while dealing with an unusual set of guests, ghosts. Her estranged brother, now one of the hotel’s resident spirits, is also on hand with plenty of ideas about how to keep the phantom-filled establishment running.
The voice cast features Will Forte, Eliza Coupe, Skyler Gisondo, Natalie Palamides and Jimmi Simpson.
Roller sold Haunted Hotel to Netflix following a competitive auction, with the streamer giving the series a straight-to-series order. Before checking into the Undervale, Roller served as co-executive producer on Krapopolis, Mr. Mayor and The Goldbergs. His writing credits also include Speechless, Community, Son of Zorn, Rick and Morty and Archer.
Roller returned as showrunner and executive producer for the series, alongside Chris McKenna, Dan Harmon and Steve Levy. Erica Hayes serves as supervising director.
The creative team brings plenty of animation pedigree to the haunted halls. McKenna is known for his work on Spider-Man: No Way Home and Spider-Man: Far From Home, while Harmon and Levy have both worked on Rick and Morty and Community. Hayes’ credits include Rick and Morty and Carol & the End of the World.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and an amazingly talented cast and crew to bring to life the stories of the dead, the evil, and the struggling hospitality workers at the Undervale Hotel,” Haunted Hotel‘s creator, showrunner, and executive producer Roller shared in a statement to Netflix.
Netflix director of adult animation Billy Wee described, “Haunted Hotel is wildly inventive, and I’m very grateful to Roller, McKenna, Harmon, and their team for bringing their talents to Netflix.”
With season two arriving on 9 October, the Undervale is once again putting out the welcome mat. Expect ghosts, chaos and hospitality with a decidedly supernatural twist because at this hotel, dead tired is simply part of the job.
