Disney+ dropped a special surprise in celebration of the third anniversary of the streaming service and the debut of the popular Star Wars series The Mandalorian. To mark the day, a new original short, Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies, from famed Japanese animation house Studio Ghibli, will premiere on 12 November exclusively on Disney+.
Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies is a hand-drawn animated short directed by Katsuya Kondo. Ludwig Göransson has done music for the show.
Kondo is a famed animator, manga artist and animation director known for his work on Kiki’s Delivery Service. Other Studio Ghibli projects that he has worked on include Princess Mononoke, My Neighbors the Yamadas and so on.
The Japanese animation house first revealed their collaboration with Lucasfilm via tweets. In another tweet, a glimpse of the dust bunny was shared.
These little dust bunnies were seen for the first time in Hayao Miyazaki’s animated masterpiece Spirited Away. Miyazaki’s beloved 2001 Oscar-winning classic went on to become the highest-grossing movie ever in Japan, holding the spot for 19 years.
