Apple TV is bringing calm back to the chaos. The streamer has unveiled the trailer for season five of its award-winning animated series Stillwater, with five new episodes set to premiere on 21 August.
Based on Jon J Muth’s bestselling Scholastic Zen books, Stillwater follows siblings Karl, Addy and Michael as they navigate the twists and turns of childhood with a little help from their wise panda neighbour, Stillwater. Through stories, humour and mindful lessons, the panda guide helps the trio make sense of their emotions and the world around them.
While many children’s shows race to keep up with short attention spans, Stillwater takes the opposite route. It slows things down. The Peabody and Daytime Emmy-winning series has built its reputation on gentle storytelling, emotional intelligence and mindfulness, turning quiet moments into its greatest strength.
Produced by Gaumont and Scholastic Entertainment for Apple TV, the series is part of the platform’s broader push towards meaningful family entertainment. Awareness and intention expert Mallika Chopra continues to collaborate on the show through Apple TV’s changemakers initiative, helping weave mindfulness practices into its storytelling.
The voice cast features Judah Mackey as Karl, Eva Ariel Binder as Addy, Tucker Chandler as Michael and James Sie as the ever-patient Stillwater. Executive producers include Sidonie Dumas, Nicolas Atlan, Terry Kalagian, Iole Lucchese, Caitlin Friedman, Jef Kaminsky, Jun Falkenstein and Rob Hoegee.
The return of Stillwater comes as Apple TV continues to expand its children’s programming slate. Recent additions include My Brother the Minotaur, Wonder Pets: In the City, WondLa, Yo Gabba GabbaLand!, The Sisters Grimm and Be@rbrick, among others.
For Apple TV, the strategy is clear: while competitors chase noise, spectacle and endless content, the platform is betting that families still have room for stories with heart. And if season five is anything to go by, Stillwater remains proof that sometimes the quietest voice in the room has the most to say.
