The films featured this year cover a broad gamut of topics, from socially and politically charged animations that present questions of sexual identity and LGBT related issues, to love stories, nostalgic tales of childhood, and documentaries on global animation trends. The lineup includes a host of noteworthy Indian animators showcasing several different genres, as well as animations from different parts of the globe that experiment with new technology and innovations within the medium. The works have been selected from countries around the world including India, France, Canada, Australia, Croatia, Myanmar, Iran, Singapore, the USA and several other regions.

3rd Indiearth

Award winning animations like Alain Bidard’s Battledream Chronicle – the first ever feature length animation film from the Caribbean island of Martinique – and Suresh Eriyat’s Fisherwoman and Tuk Tuk will be showcased, while Indian animation artist and filmmaker Abhishek Verma will be premiering his film Maacher Jhol at the festival. Verma will also be conducting a workshop on 21 August titled Art and Communication: Animation In The Digital Age, introducing participants to practical hands-on skills training in the art of animation, while also exploring worldwide trends within the discipline. The session is being organised by the EarthSync Academy at the Alliance Francaise of Madras.

EarthSync, CEO, Sonya Mazumdar says, “The festival is doing its part for the growth of animation in India; the positive response from audiences will hopefully encourage support and commercials for Indian animators. IndiEarth has been working to develop audiences and infrastructure for the arts industries in India with its music and film properties. We are excited to bring a fascinating collection of animations to this 3rd edition of IndiEarth Animation Film Festival, which audiences in India may not otherwise be able to access easily.”
