Recently, Logitech G has partnered with McLaren and announced that India will be competing in the global online event, Logitech McLaren G Challenge India Wildcard, and the registrations for qualifiers are open now!
Commenting on this event, Logitech head marketing and gaming category Dhiraj Soni told Animation Xpress, “The Logitech McLaren G Challenge has returned and with this, e-racing season is shaping to excite racers and race fans around the world. We are thrilled to be part of this journey with McLaren after successful previous seasons where we continued to entertain the motorsports fans. This year we will return with new formats, multiple game titles and a monthly schedule of broadcasted races that will continue to excite race fans around the world.”
This event will be a wild card event for India which means that via the events held at retailers, motorsport and gaming events all over the world, players can race, at a safe and healthy distance, against other members of the sim racing community. Winners of wildcard events are awarded an automatic spot in the Wildcard Finals of the Logitech McLaren G Challenge in Vegas.
The company shares that this is the first time that India is getting a slot in the Logitech G Challenge’s establishment and the company expects that they believe the wildcard slot India also comes with responsibility on the esports athletes to make the country proud.
The 2021 Logitech McLaren G Challenge features three unique motorsport genre competitions: Stock Car, Open Wheel and Sport Car. Logitech have also announced that up to 90 finalists will win an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas!
He further added, “With Logitech McLaren G Challenge we want to provide an opportunity for eracers and motorsports enthusiasts to compete and race like professionals, giving India a chance to compete for the first time. This is also an opportunity for up to 90 finalists to win an all-expenses paid four day and three night trip to Las Vegas. Final champions win a VIP McLaren Racing experience and a trip to London! They will also get to race in a McLaren Supercar, avail the VIP experience at the British Grand Prix, get a guided tour of the McLaren Technology Center, and last but not the least, the final champions will get expert advice and coaching from Mr Lando Norris.”
Racers must be at least 16 years old at the time of registration and should meet the minimum age required to have a full iRacing or Assetto Corsa Competizione account criteria in their country of residence. Racers under the age of majority in their country of residence must have a parent or legal guardian review and consent to these Official Rules on their behalf and accompany them to any wildcard events or grand finals.
Online time trials are daily trials players can do in their chosen region for their choice of game and category (stock, open wheel, or sports car) to qualify for the monthly round races at the end of each month. This year, there are five monthly round races and the podium finishers from each race in each category will earn a place in the semifinals.
Racers can also qualify through points accumulation over the season. The more players race, more will be the chances to qualify for the semifinals!
