‘Captain Vidyut’ wins Best Soundtrack at ANIMATIBA film festival 2021

Parijat Animations’ debut feature length film, Captain Vidyut, bagged ‘Best Soundtrack’ in Feature Films Category at ANIMATIBA 2021, Curitiba, Brazil.

Talking to Animation Xpress, producer Sangeeta Tripathi and director Atish Tripathi shared their joy. They said, “The festival featured 204 animation films from 56 countries. It is always a great honour to get an official selection in an International Animation Film Festival and winning an award is like cherry on the cake. It’s a very nice feeling that people on the other side of the world enjoyed watching and listening to our work.”

Produced by Anita Tripathi and Sangeeta Tripathi and directed by Atish Tripathi, Captain Vidyut features voice talents of acting stalwarts such as Raghubeer Yadav, Suresh Menon, Namit Das and Trisha Kale.

Captain Vidyut is about an average, ordinary guy, Vidyut Kumar who is a weakling but desires to be a strong man. One night he is struck by a lightning bolt and he ends up gaining extraordinary superpowers and becomes a superhero.

Commenting about the music of the film, Tripathi said, “We incorporated a whole lot of musical influences from Rock, dubstep to classical music, while creating the background score of the film. Theme song of Captain Vidyut’ has a very 80’s children’s cartoon feel to it. We wanted to create something which evokes the feel of the theme song of the famous TV show from the 80’s, Spiderman.”

Captain Vidyut has received official selections in several International Festivals around the world including GUKIFF (South Korea), JUNIORFEST (Czech Republic), SIMFEST (Romania),  AJAYU International Animation Festival  (Peru), KWETU International Animation Film Festival (Tanzania) .

It has also received the ASIFA India Award of Excellence 2021 for ‘Best Animated TV Episode’.

Revealing more information about studio’s upcoming projects, Tripathi said, “We have got an exciting comedy series in the works called Monkey and the Bananas. This is a non verbal action comedy which features a monkey’s plans to capture the bananas and how bananas save themselves. Second instalment of Captain Vidyut can also be expected in time to come.”
