Come 8 May and capital city of Kerala will witness the conglomeration of animation and visual effects experts and lovers at the ‘Animation Masters Summit 2015’ organised by Toonz Animation.
The two-day summit will be led by the creative wizards of national and international repute convening to share their expertise and experiences with passionate professionals and aspiring young talent. The Animation Masters Summit will be held in Technopark Trivandrum on 8 and 9 May, 2015. And AnimationXpress will be bringing you the updates from the event as it happens.
Experts such as Angus Fletcher, E Suresh, Gitanjali Rao, Kelvin Ali, Kireet Khurana, Madhu Sudanan, Shilpa Ranade, Anil Wanvari are some of the Animation Masters attending the summit.
“It was in 1999 that Toonz first held the ‘Week with the Masters’ event in Kerala. This was a great platform for animation enthusiasts and creative people to meet leading animators and interact with them. We want to continue this tradition and create a platform for dialogue amongst experts, industry and academia to chalk out a roadmap for animation industry in India,” said Toonz Media Group CEO P Jayakumar.
Angus Fletcher, who is an expert in IP development was the president of the Jim Henson Television Group; the home of puppetry, Muppets, Sesame Street, The Hoobs and many others. In his career, he has touched every aspect of children’s and family programming.
Short film animation Guru Suresh Kumar Eriyat is one of the key revolutionaries of animation in India; Gitanjali Rao is a self-taught animator and film maker whose movie ‘Printed Rainbow’ went on to win three awards in the legendary Cannes. Kireet Khurana, son of Bhimsain Khurana – one of the pioneers of Indian animation, is the conceptualiser, director and co-writer for India’s first live action & 3D animation combo film Toonpurka Superhero. Madhu Sudhanan is one of the pioneers of Indian visual effects has won National Awards and many other recognitions. His recent work on Vishwaroopam created waves and he has also supervised Vishwaroopam 2 and Uttama Villain for Kama Hassan.
Anil Wanvari, founder, chairman & editor-in-chief, Animation Xpress India Pvt Ltd; will be speaking on the ‘role of media in AVCG (Animation, VFX, Comic & Gaming) sector’. He will be sharing his rich experience of over 15 years in the Dot Com industry and how it can be leveraged and optimally used to reach a larger audience for this particular sector.
“Animation Masters Summit will be a great platform for the young to interact with the Masters and an opportunity for the masters to present their works to other masters and also animation professionals expected to attend this event,” added Toonz Media Group creative head Hari Varma.
This time around, Toonz is also hosting The Flying Elephant Animation & Short Film Competition as part of the Animation Masters Summit. “We have already received over 100 applications from across the country for the four categories announced. We shall be shortlisting 16 best applications for the four categories and the masters will be finalizing the winners. The winners will be awarded the Flying Elephant Trophy at an awards ceremony on 9 May,” informed Varma.
