FICCI Frames 2022: Education experts discuss the new education policy 2020

FICCI Frames 2022 day one had sessions which needed thoughtful deliberation from the industry experts for the growth of the M&E industry. For the growth of any sector education plays an important role. After 34 years, the government of India introduced a new education policy in 2020 wherein through the suggestions and recommendations of the experts the government has tried to address the gaps in the system. 

The panel discussion: New paradigm shift in higher education through implementation of NEP 2020 focused on how the new policy is reshaping and transforming the education system in the country. 

Keynote address was delivered by RSACE managing director Kiran Juneja. The panelists for the session included Manipal Academy of Higher Education Manipal Institute of Communication director and professor Padma Rani, Purbanchal University School of Science and Technology (Nepal) deputy dean Manoj Kumar Haluwai, Atlas Skill Tech University School of Media and Communication dean Shefalika Narain, JK University board of advisors member Kalyan Sahoo, Sharda University mass communication professor Sanjeev Sood, IIT Delhi professor Charu Monga, Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology dean Sadeep Ashwath, KC College head of department Dr. Ritika Pathak. Media and Entertainment Skills Council CEO Mohit Soni moderated the session. 

The panel discussed that it is necessary for students to receive training at the school level which will help them to be ready for further education after higher secondary school. Students will have much more clarity as to what they need to do and choose a career path accordingly for a living. 

A point was also highlighted regarding the trainers. Along with the training of students, it is also essential to have skilled trainers who can impart proper knowledge to students. One of the benefits of the new education policy that was pointed out in the session was that the kids will now have a vocational and problem based learning system. 

Towards the end, the panelists concurred to the fact that in modern times, a student needs to be multi-talented and multi-tasker ladened with multiple skills.
