The Judas and the Black Messiah actress, Dominique Thorne, will make her Marvel debut as Riri Williams, a teen genius in next year’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
According to ComicBook, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed that the actress will appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever before starring as the lead hero of Disney+’s upcoming Ironheart show.
Feige said, “We’re shooting Black Panther: Wakanda Forever right now, and the character of Riri Williams, you will meet in Black Panther 2 first, she started shooting, I think, this week before her Ironheart series.”
Thorne landed the role without an audition, proving how much Marvel Studios wanted to work with the genius young actor.
Ironheart (Riri Williams) is a fictional superhero appearing in Marvel Comics. The character was created in 2016 by writers Brian Michael Bendis, and artist Mike Deodato, and later redesigned by Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda.
Wakanda Forever, the sequel to the Black Panther, is currently in production in Atlanta, with Ryan Coogler serving as the show-runner. However it is not disclosed that how the film will move forward without Chadwick Boseman, who played Black Panther/T’Challa before his death in 2020.
Daniel Kaluuya, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, and Winston Duke are all expected return for Wakanda Forever, which will also feature Michaela Coel in an unknown role.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases 8 July 2022.
