The second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is not currently in works, according to the show’s producer. The 10-episode anime series premiered on Netflix on 13 September and it received largely positive reviews.
In an interview recently given to a publication, CD Projekt Red Japan country manager Satoru Honma revealed that there were actually no plans to make the second season of the show. He said, “I personally would like to continue to work with Japanese studios to produce more anime in the future, partly because we have received very good feedback. However, just to be clear, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was planned as a standalone work, so there’s no such thing as ‘we are actually working on Season two in the background.” If the anime were to be continued in the future, according to Honma, it wouldn’t be season two for Edgerunners but rather something completely different.
The show has been a big success for its producers; it lasted more than a month in the top 10 list worldwide on Netflix and received one of the platform’s highest review ratings ever. The show’s success, paired with a new patch and discount, resulted in a significant surge in Cyberpunk 2077 gamers, with more than one million players daily.
CD Projekt stated earlier this month that among other things, they are working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
