NASSCOM announces Animation Super Pitch for Nov conf

The NASSCOM Animation Super Pitch is back!

Currently in its second edition, the super pitch is in all probability going to be extended to gaming also.

While the gaming super pitch will be announced soon, NASSCOM has officially announced launched the Animation pitch and all those Indian creators with animated ideas buzzing in their minds can make the best out of it. They have a chance to practice their pitching skills and have a direct interaction with the select panel comprising of experts and stakeholders from across platforms like Broadcast, Film, Home Video and New Media who will be heading the live jury on Nov 1 in Mumbai at the NASSCOM Animation & Gaming summit.

The 1st Super Pitch saw more than 30 entries being sent and the finale witnessed six of the best entries being pitched by their creators to a select panel comprising of eminent professionals from the Film, Broadcast and Home Video space with Banzi created by ICAT getting top honors and adjudged as winner.

“The objective of this initiative is to encourage IP creation and innovation. We were thrilled to spotlight some wonderful creations in the 1 st edition and this time around we are sure there will be great participation too” shared Col S V Ramachandran.

Biren Ghose, member of the NASSCOM Animation summit organizing committee and the expert in charge of the super pitch shared, ” The animation and gaming super pitch provides a unique intermediation between creators and acquirers of original content. It cuts short the time and resource that original content creators have to invest to get across their concepts and Bibles to stake holders and decision makers, it provides instant feedback and also gauges the pulse of the audience comprising of senior professionals”

“Its about pitching your big idea in 5 minutes” he added.

The top six projects of the previous super pitch including ICAT’s Banzi, ettaminA’s Mundoo Hunt, Anirights” Little Krishna, Toonz Animation India’s Maharaja Cowboy, Illusion Interactive’s Aryaman and Pramod Sahoo’s Tom Dick & Harry are all in various stages of evolution and NASSCOM is anticipating an even more prolific response both in terms of quantity and quality of entries for this edition.

So what is the Super Pitch and how does it work?
In an ecosystem where animated IP and original content are critical to growing up the value chain, the super pitch is a platform where Individuals as well as studios can present and pitch their concepts and Bibles to potential producers, distributors and platform stake holders.

The Super Pitch mechanism enables Creative Studios to sharpen the focus of their story telling, it enhances the presentation skills and it also gives exposure to talented individuals, besides the concrete chance of making business deals with members of the panel or audience.

What kind of entries will be accepted?
Complete Bibles, Story Lines and Concepts with Art development, Children�s Picture books, Pilot Episodes (All kinds of animation 2D, 3D, Flash, Stop Motion, Experimental Animation) will be accepted for being entered in the pitch.

A few essentials that need to be highlighted in your Bible / pitch / presentation include:

Dos and don’ts

Look at the characters to be leveraged in multiple platforms

Show or describe the audio visual element of it

Each page should be poster like with bold visuals and limited text

Rehearse the presentation so that it is completed well within the time…. make your punch lines in the beginning

Whereas international themes are acceptable one of the criteria for judging the entries will be their appeal value for Indian audiences

Rules & Regulations

1. There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted from individuals as well as studios

2. NASSCOM has fine tuned the format of the super pitch based on feedback and inputs from the industry

3. Last date for receiving entries is 15 October 2007

4. Entries can be sent in formats including PDF, power point, DVD, CD, Hard Copy.

5. All postage/courier charges must be pre-paid.

6. While the show could be of any language, the pitch would have to be made in English

7. The details on the entry form should be typed or handwritten clearly (In Legible and Readable Capital Letters Only).

8. Entries once submitted to and accepted by NASSCOM, will be considered as final. No alterations, replacements will be permitted.

9. Duplication of entries by the same studio/individual will not be allowed.

10. Each form can be used only for a single Entry; No Multiple Entries per form will be permitted. If you need more forms, you can download them from the NASSCOM website.

11. The NASSCOM ANIMATION & GAMING SUPER PITCH Jury decision will be final and binding for all the entrants.

12. Please label your entries with clarity giving proper credits and details

13. A covering letter from the entrant claiming ownership of the work must be submitted.

14. The jury of NASSCOM Animation super pitch reserves the right not to award a winner in any particular category, if the quality of the entries does not meet up to the required standards.

15. By entering the competition, entrants warrant to NASSCOM that they possess or have secured all necessary rights, clearances, and/or licenses with respect to all materials and elements embodied in works submitted for the competition, and that the use by NASSCOM of such works will neither violate nor infringe upon the copyright, trademark, privacy, creative, or other rights of any party not submitting the work. Entrants agree to defend, indemnify, and hold NASSCOM harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, costs, and losses arising out of the breach of this warranty.
