Arena looks to address industry needs with Diploma in Animation Engineering

With 130 centres all over India, Arena Animation carries great responsibility when it comes to animation training. The institue has recently introduced a Diploma in Animation Engineering which it claims to be its solution of meeting the constant demand of industry ready animators.

According to Arena , the 20 month long course has industry professionals participating as faculty for the students.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com about the idea behind launching this course, Arena Animation Global Head, R. Krishnan shared, “Arena Animationâ€?s focus has been to make its programs relevant to the industry demands. Diploma in Animation Engineering (DAE) was designed with the objective of making the student a complete Animation Professional, with the knowledge of every aspect of animation, including both 2D and 3D animation, in sync with the evolving industry requirements for professional animators”

A student, who has passed higher secondary (10+2) or has appeared for it, is eligible for this course. Students are admitted to the course on the basis of their performance in the entrance test (creative test) during which their drawing skills and creative abilities are tested. Maximum 20 students per batch are admitted for this course.

Sharing the information on the modules of this course, Krishnan said, “The program greatly emphasizes on teaching the students to integrate both the processes of 2D as well as 3D, with an exhaustive overview and skill development, right from ideation to execution. Through this course the students will learn to integrate the creative, artistic and technical demands of the animation industry and at the end learn to apply these skills to the creation of their own demo reel.”

Discussing about the marketing strategy for DAE, Krishnan shared, “We have consciously decided to market this product to the right audience. Since the field of animation requires a lot of dedication, hard work and creativity, it is very important to have an initial filtration mechanism, so that the output to the industry is as per the demand. Hence, we have a very stringent input check, in the form an exhaustive creative test. Any student wanting to pursue DAE would have to clear this aptitude test. This would ensure that the right candidate is in and the plough pack to the industry is a complete animation professional.”
