Adult Swim released a new teaser of Tuca & Bertie Season Two and is all set to premiere on 13 June 2021.
The animated series showcases the adventures of comedians Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong in aviary avatars. It was formerly going to be a Netflix series but later it got canceled in 2019. However, Adult Swim came to the rescue and revived the show.
Tuca & Bertie is created by Lisa Hanawalt. The executive producers of the show are Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Noel Bright, Steven A. Cohen, Haddish, and Wong. The series is produced by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company, and the animation is done at Shadow Machine.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Tuca (Tiffany Haddish) and Bertie (Ali Wong) are best friends, and they’re both full of ghosts! Bertie is busy excavating her inner ghouls with the help of a therapist, while Tuca prefers to stuff hers behind the toilet. She’ll deal with them later; right now she’s just too busy trying not to be single anymore! Meanwhile, Speckle (Steven Yeun) is building a new house but soon finds he’s driven to the brink of insanity… a good thing he’s just a cartoon. Geese are demonized! Seagulls are romanticized! These episodes are full of relatable moments and hilarity. Just be warned, you’ll never look at plants the same way again!
As per the Comicbook, Hanawalt explained, “I was disappointed. I do think it was an algorithm thing, and I don’t think algorithms should make decisions. I knew about it for a month before I could tell anyone. It was hard to sit with that news alone. When we announced it, I expected people to say, ‘Ah, well, that happens.’ The fact that people were as upset as I was felt cathartic because it did feel unfair. It was nice to have fans banging the drum. For months they wouldn’t let up. Not every show that is on Netflix can go to another network; it was just a full year of back and forth with lawyers figuring out whether or not we could continue.”
However the first season of Tuca & Bertie has remained on Netflix. For Season Two you will have to tune into Adult Swim on 13 June at 11:30 pm.
