Vertex Volt Delivers 1500 VFX Shots For Serial ‘The Adventures of Hatim’

Vertex Volt- a Mumbai based studio has delivered 1500 VFX shots for the Hindi serial ‘The Adventures of Hatim’, which is aired on weekends at 8pm on Life Ok Channel.

Getting impressed by the VFX shots of ‘Devon Ke Dev Mahadev’, its Director-Nikhil Sinha approached this studio in 2013 to initiate VFX shots for the episodes of ‘The Adventures of Hatim’ too. After getting a clear brief from its director, Vertex Volt started working on delivering realistic visuals to this daily soap from August 2013.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com about the VFX initiative, Hardik Gajjar, VFX supervisor, Vertex Volt says, “As ‘The Adventures of Hatim’ is full of VFX action package , we started focusing on brief breakdowns of  per shot, which in turn helped us in getting an estimate of the time frame required for any particular shot as such.”

Till date, which were the interesting VFX shots that have been undertaken for this serial? Ashquar City, Zarghaam’s Den and the Yaman City were the three Vfx shots which were smartly handled by this studio by adding appropriate colour textures and camera angles.

The location setting of the city called ‘Ashquar’ was the first interesting VFX shot created by this studio. For making this scene visually appealing , Vertex Volt worked on the technical perfections for  water simulation that would look like the ocean, detailed ship modeling and the 3D modeling of the city. To make the entire 3D Model of this city look real, usage of extreme long shot gave a detailed vision of the city being based in an island. “To touch up on the detailed visual in the first episode itself, we experimented on the close up shots and worked on the set extensions, crowd multiplication and matte paintings for the interiors of the city.” highlights Hardik.

In order to add a realistic element to Zarghaam’s den, a combination of matte painting with lava and destruction highlighted the wrath and evil factor to it.  Hardik adds “We made maximum use of CG shots to create lava, fire, smoke and destroyed structures. In addition to it, 3D dragons were multiplied for Zarghaam’s evil army force.”

This soap also comprises of several colour textures that portrays different moods in every shot. As Zarghaam is an antagonist for this soap, unpleasant dark colour schemes are used to depict his nature of anger and hatred. But on the other hand, warm color tones are used to add the elements of strength, courage and power for the character of Hatim.

Upgraded pipeline software has been used for the making of each and every VFX shot and a total of 100 VFX artists were involved in delivering suitable Vfx shots.

In the upcoming episodes of this serial, Hatim will be all set to start his adventure and will be seen going to several locations. “We have added CG elements such as rotoscopy, matte paintings, varied set extensions, 3D props and characters, composition and colour correction for the adventurous feel of the episodes.” concludes Hardik
