The X-Men comic series has always remained a fan-favourite since its inception. The franchise became even more popular with its film adaptations X-Men, X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, The Wolverine, Logan and the latest X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
Star Movies is going to air the latest installment of the mutant extravaganza, X-Men: Dark Phoenix for the first time on Indian television on 28 June, Sunday at 12 pm and 9 pm.
Fans have long been drawn to the adventures of the mutants, their fight for good over evil, fantastic plot, subtle nuances and analogies of the X-Men universe.
In Dark Phoenix, the mutants are back with another exquisite adventure. The noted star cast includes Game of Thrones fame, Sophie Turner taking on the role of the complex, enigmatic and destructive – Jean Grey and her alter-ego, Phoenix. Grey works intimately with Professor X, but struggles to control her natural mutant abilities and the superpowers of Phoenix, who is wild, fierce and hard to tame, resulting in pure anarchy and mayhem for everyone in her orbit.
Speaking about her role, Turner commented, “The story of Dark Phoenix, takes off after Apocalypse when the X-Men are sent to space and Jean, therein gets hit by a solar wave which manifests this crazy, uncontrollable energy within her – The Dark Phoenix. Thus, begins her unraveling, and that of the X-Men as a family. I think that’s what draws me in, playing these really strong female characters, even if they are set in supernatural and fantastical settings, there is a real human connection behind it.”
