‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ trailer leaked with unfinished VFX

Recently a low-quality trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home with unfinished VFX was leaked on TikTok. Framestore VFX producer Wassila Lmouaci’s name was seen watermarked on the trailer.

Visual effects studios have to watermark with the producer’s names for VFX and marketing but there are hundreds of people reporting to them who are also working on that footage. Beneath the name of the VFX producer is another watermark on the video, said superhero theorist Edward Rose, which is a superhero podcast who has deleted their Twitter account.

While the source of the leak is still unclear, people are assuming that it might have happened by someone working on its VFX. If that’s the case, this could be a drawback that many VFX studios operating on a work from home model have to think about. Remote working has been the norm since COVID but the concerns around data security have to be dealt with. Although the trailer is real, it did seem like it needs to be worked on in terms of visual effects.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will release in theatres on 17 December.
