Prasad EFX delivers over 1350 VFX shots for Tamil Version of Singam II

Well known VFX Giant, Prasad EFX, has recently brought out around 1350 shots along with DI for Singam II Tamil version. Directed by Hari, produced by Prince Pictures and having actor Surya as the lead, the film was also released in Telugu titled ‘Yamudu II’.

Hari approached the studio in the planning stages of the movie and instilled immense confidence that they would meet his thoughts perfectly to carry out hardcore VFX and it happened!

‘Best Possible VFX’, was the vision of Hari with Singam II that he shared with EFX and this was made possible by the team of 60 artists spearheaded by Sri Rengaraj, the VFX Supervisor, Chandra Mohan, Line Producer and  R.Sundar Rajan, lead compositor

The work count brought out in this movie ranged in varied divisions starting from creating 3D Models, Animations, 3d-Tracking and ultimately Compositing shots.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com’s Zeenia Boatwala about the VFX executed, Hima Kumar, Vice President, Prasad EFX, indicates, “Our work in this movie has been highly appreciated by the film industry professionals. The technical contribution of Director Hari in the VFX shots was of great help in this mega project. We worked on about 1350 VFX shots in a short period of time.”

It has taken 3 months to complete the VFX and it was carried out simultaneously during the shoot of the movie, Hima informs more on this, “As the client kept sharing the shots after each schedule, it enabled us to finish the work in a short span of time.”

An interesting and challenging VFX area that Hima points out is a song sequence filmed in Mid Sea. Here, some ship shots were taken in the mid sea whereas a few complicated shots were taken near the sea shore after which the studio composited the shot with other layers to give a feeling that every element was shot as a single frame in the mid sea.”

Hima says more on the VFX, “We also worked on a chase sequence, wherein we added some hairpin bends in the hills to make it look more thrilling and give a greater feel of depth.”

And, when asked about the best scene of the movie, Hima, expresses, “The Best scene, again would be the chase sequence from Trivandrum to Tuticorin involving multiple shots which were combined together to a single shot.”

It always is a team work when you bring out VFX of such great intensity and Hari here played a major role by sharing his expectations with the team at EFX, which in turn helped the VFX supervisor to capture the nuances on shoot.  Adds further, “Since the Director and DOP knew exactly what they wanted, we were able to handle the huge number of shots in an effective manner and deliver them with attention to detail.”

And, how can the R&D team stay behind in such a major project, as collecting and shooting references and pictorially documenting real life experiences by them played a pivotal role in building VFX for this movie. “Our library of past work and experiences gained from them prove handy when we work on a new project. For this film, we analyzed many shots of snake biting, ship movements before we actually started work on the graphics.” Hima, adds to the research done for this movie.

“Our VFX pipeline is a well-established system which has been fine-tuned over the years keeping in mind quality and timelines and I believe that our experience and expertise over the years has established the efficiency of our production pipeline.” concludes, Hima
