Post Production Director Vijay Venkataramanan quits Netflix India recently announced that he is resigning from his post at Netflix India.
A graduate of the University of Southern California – School of Cinematic Arts, Vijay Venkataramanan led the post-production initiative for Netflix, India, where his team new creative and technical standards and benchmarks for streaming content, becoming the first service in the country to finish and deliver content in 4K Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos.
Vijay also strategically led efforts to build Netflix’s first, full-service, live-action post-production facility in the world, right here in Mumbai, which is all set to pioneer advanced collaborative workflows and set new standards for best practices in post production.
On his social media account he announced, “After three and a half intense years of building and growing the post production team and the vendor and talent ecosystem for Netflix, India, I have made a deeply contemplated decision to transition out of my role and the company. I will continue assisting my team with the transition and depart from Netflix by mid-November.”
Speaking about the things he will be grateful for, he shared that Netflix gave him and his team ‘massive firepower to effect industry-shifting practices and standards in post-production in India.’
Venkataramanan began his career in advertising with TBWA\Chiat\Day & DDB, Los Angeles where worked on campaigns for Ameriquest, Wells Fargo, Sony Qualia, Activision, and Epson.
Further in the post he added, “However, I’ve really missed the action in the filmmaking trenches, where equipped with my Netflix training, I hope I can help creators make better movies (and shows) with a little less jugaad and chaos.”
Thanking his associates and fellow leaders at Netflix, he shared, “Much love to my awesome team for always pushing the bar higher and to Gavin Barclay and Jeff Roth for being such exemplary and inspiring leaders. I wish to thank all our post production vendor and talent partners for their support through the years, and for pulling out all stops to improve post production standards, specs. and practices in record time to deliver Netflix series and films. I particularly want to thank them for their hard work and support through the COVID-19 crisis and ensuring continuity of work and delivery of films and series against all odds.”
