FX School Surat to Conduct Stop Motion Film Making Workshop Tomorrow

FX School Surat believes that Stop Motion Film Making is the simplest, most fun animation technique to work on and with the vision of shedding more light on it, they are inviting the auds at Surat for a full day workshop tomorrow.

Attendees who are passionate about photography, filmmaking and animation should not miss this workshop as they will figure out the process of creating a short film with a series of still images shot on DSLR cameras.

Speaking to AnimationXpress.com’s Zeenia Boatwala about this workshop, CB Arun Kumar, Academic Director, FX School, says, “Stop-motion is one of the oldest techniques of animation, starting with Muybridge’s ‘Horse in Motion’ shot in 1878 to modern Hollywood blockbusters such as ‘Chicken Run.’  FX School’s advanced one-day workshop in Stop Motion Filmmaking introduces students to this fascinating world of creating movement by sequencing a series of individually photographed frames.”

Slated from 11 am – 4 pm in the afternoon, this workshop will be carried out by Senior FX School Mumbai Faculty members—Yohan Wadia, Head of Department- VFX along with Harsh Shroff from FXS, FX School’s production division and photography faculties, Aparna Patade and Saurabh Panchmatia.

So why are these experts chosen to conduct this seminar? We know more on this by getting into the core of their career graphs, which reveal that, Yohan Wadia entered Visual Effects in 2007 and joined EyeQube studios where he worked on few of the most technically and creatively challenging shots in movies like Tron Legacy, ‘Don’t touch me’, an animated short which was nominated in the Festival de Cannes 2010, Moby dick, Aladin, Drona, Veer, Madharaspattinam and other television series, advertisements for both Indian as well as International clients.

Yohan points out his aim for this workshop by saying, “The intention of having the workshop in Surat is not just to make students aware about FX School and its role in the field of Digital Media education but also to expose them to the unique training techniques used by FX School faculty”

DOP of Bollywood movies such as “The Attacks of 26/11” and “Bhoot Returns,” Harsh Shroff, the next speaker also shares his views about this workshop by saying, “Stop Motion is a fantastic tool that uses primary camera functions for modern story telling and strikes a great balance between still images and the conventional idea of moving images.”

Coming to the next speaker, Aparna Patade, is a painter, dancer and proficient photographer and has specialized in portrait, fashion and travel photography.

She highlights, “We are going to teach participants to create their own little stories using everyday props. They will have fun while learning basic principles of photography, animation and filmmaking.”

And, Saurabh Saurabh Panchmatia, an accomplished photographer, graphic designer and musician who specializes in Documentary, Product, Food and Event Photography, adds, “Animation from photographed material has a special quality that is almost impossible to achieve with other methods. With this workshop, participants are going to learn a simple, fun and imaginative type of filmmaking.”
