‘Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2018’ enthralls children and adults alike

India’s only award show by the kids, for the kids and of the kids Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2018 recognized and celebrated the best in the world of entertainment across film, television, mobile gaming, sports etc. The evening which took place on 13 December 2018 at NSCI Dome, Mumbai saw the brightest actors of Bollywood and Television like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha, Kartik Aaryan, Huma Qureshi amongst others dazzle at the orange carpet. The starry evening created some memorable moments with performances by the Bollywood stars along with the kids’ favourite Nicktoons.

Hosted by actor Kartik Aryan along with three children draped as popular nursery rhyme’s little stars, the show began with signature moves over the rising cacophony of children dressed in yellow seated in the barricaded first row. With children running rings around the much-taller Aryan, the contrast of three little kiddies outwitting the host made for an amusing presentation to begin with. Designed as a space station with intricate shuttles and revolving planets, the show’s proverbial astronomical vibe enhanced further with children poised as astronauts.  As the show progressed, Aryan cottoned up to children with his endearing charm and child-like demeanour as other Bollywood stars joined in later.

The Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards prides itself as the only awards show in the country that empowers kids and allows this future generation to decide on who would win the coveted “Nickelodeon Blimp”. This year saw nearly 350,000 votes making this a truly inclusive award and a perfect representation of kids and their choices.

The star-studded evening saw actor Varun Dhawan, who descended on the stage in what looked like a replica of an airplane strung to the roof in a grand performance over the elated hoots of children, walk away with the Favourite Movie Actor (Male) award.  Alia Bhatt who also bagged the coveted Favorite Movie Actor (Female) award was seen springing forth from a space-rocket portal in a school uniform amidst children and dancing to children’s beloved jingles and songs. Tiger Zinda Hai won in the Favourite Film category. Actor Ishaan Khatter won the New Kid on the Block award and Swag Se Swagat that had the nation dance to its tunes was voted as the Favourite Bollywood Movie Song by kids. Motu and Shin Chan won the Favorite Indian toon Character and Favorite Show of the year award respectively.

Keeping in line with the tradition internationally that saw Hollywood icons like Hugh Jackman, Justin Bieber and Nicole Kidman get slimed, Kids Choice Awards India too created some fun moments with slime.  Varun, Alia, Kartik and others were slimed green as a mark of honour on winning the prestigious blimp.
