Pune Based Rolocule Games Motion Gaming Technology ‘Rolomotion’ –has been nominated for the 2014 Edison Awards in Entertainment Category under Electronics & Computers.
The Edison Awards, that is named after Thomas Alva Edison, this year celebrates its 27th year of honoring innovators and innovation created in products, services, marketing, and design.
“The Edison Awards provides a robust platform for honoring the best in innovation, and encourages today’s development teams, researchers, designers, and entrepreneurs to dream big. We’re inspired by our 2014 finalists and delighted to have this opportunity to recognize and promote the outstanding accomplishments they represent,” says Frank Bonafilia, Executive Director of the Edison Awards.

AnimationXpress.com sat down with Anuj Tandon, Co- Founder of Rolocule Games to know about the inspirations that went behind creating Rolomotion, response from the audiences and future plans of the studio.
Hi Anuj, Thank you for talking to AnimationXpress.com, how do you feel after being nominated?
This is an amazing and great feeling, our team’s hard work and our DNA of being an innovative is being recognized at an international stage in company of all big companies. Rolomotion is the brain child of Rohit Gupta (CEO) and our Tech Director Suhel Momin who came up with this idea of being able to create a way we can play mobile games on TV in the most intuitive way possible.
How would you pitch Rolomotion to a novice and how does this technology work?
Rolomotion is a tech that brings motion gaming like Wii/PS3 to your Smartphone. Using Apple TV in iOS or Miracast in Android you can share your Smartphone screen on your TV. With Rolomotion enables games you can enjoy motion gaming experience on your TV.
According to you, which factors led to its nomination?
Smart devices are gaining traction globally in gaming and will keep growing, traditional gaming consoles will get challenged in the future. Although we believe console will still hold their fort we will see lot of intersections in gaming function of these two markets. Rolomotion is a disruptive technology that brings Motion gaming like Wii to most Smartphone owner.
How has the response been for Rolomotion been & your competitors are?
Very exciting! Our first Rolomotion powered games reached the TOP 100 grossing games rank on the US store and we were featured worldwide by Apple in an iTunes Banner for 2 weeks. We were covered by most known Tech Press in USA; we were invited by Apple to showcase the tech to their product team in Cupertino. Most importantly the users are very excited by the possibilities this technology presents them in Gaming.
About competitors, yes there are some second screen apps that use accelerometer but we are the first to implement a complete motion gaming tech for smart phones.
Can you take us through the milestones that Rolocule has achieved till date and what are the upcoming games from your end?
From a company that started out of a rented apartment with investment of Rs 1 lac to being called to Cupertino to meet Apple on Rolomotion and creating games that are played by close to 4 million people worldwide, it’s been a rollercoaster and we are just getting started. We will be releasing another Rolomotion based game soon. It is being tested at the moment and I will let you know all about it close to launch.
