The script for the upcoming Netflix film BRZRKR, starring Keanu Reeves, has been completed, according to screenwriter Mattson Tomlin.
Tomlin shared a picture of the title page of the BRZRKR script on his Twitter account. He posted a snapshot of what looks to be the last page of the script before sharing the image of the title page.
The movie will be based on the BRZRKR comic book series that Ron Garney and Keanu Reeves initially wrote and illustrated. Reeves defined the comic’s protagonist as “cursed by violence attempting to figure out who he is” in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. In March 2021, the movie and a Netflix anime spinoff series were first introduced. Both the live-action movie and the anime series will have Reeves in the lead role as the titular character, also known as B.
The makers announced Tomlin as the screenwriter for the BRZRKR movie in October 2021. He has been able to achieve success through his recent projects, one of them being The Batman, starring Robert Patinson as the Batman which was directed by Matt Reeves. As of now, the film hasn’t approached any director to be on board. The BRZRKR film is set to be distributed by Netflix, but does not have a release date yet.
BOOM! Studios has announced a new three-issue original series A Vicious Circle. This series comes from one of the upcoming Batman sequels and creator-director of Project Power Mattson Tomlin along with artist Lee Bermejo who worked on Batman: Damned and Joker.
The official synopsis of A Vicious Circle reads: Shawn Thacker is a trained assassin from the future who seeks revenge on the only other man with his affliction—each life they take forces them both to involuntarily travel between vastly different past and future eras. Spanning from 22nd century Tokyo to 1950s New Orleans to the Cretaceous Era and beyond, the two mortal rivals are locked in a battle of wills that spans millions of years, all to alter the course of history.
Legendary artist Lee Bermejo adapts his artistic approach to each period in order to honour eminent comic creators and historical master painters, presented in a premium, enormous edition!
In addition to writing and producing the Olivia Cooke-starring movie Little Fish, Mattson Tomlin is the screenwriter of the superhero movie Project Power for Netflix. Currently, he is co-writing the screenplay for The Batman sequel with director Matt Reeves and showrunning a new anime series based on The Terminator for Netflix and Skydance. He is also co-writing the script for Keanu Reeves’ BRZRKR, which is based on the BOOM! Studios comic.
Tomlin said, “Lee Bermejo is an artist of the highest calibre and getting to partner with him as we push each other into the vortex of involuntary time travel has been a uniquely satisfying experience. I’m very excited for you to join us on this journey that unpacks the good, the evil, and the vicious meaning of life.”
For DC Comics, Lee Bermejo has illustrated covers for a variety of series, including Detective Comics and Hellblazer. He completed Batman: Noel and Suiciders, the latter is his own creation. Dear Detective, a sequential collection of his Detective Comics covers, is his most recent work.
Bermejo said, “A Vicious Circle is a passion project and the most deliciously challenging thing I’ve done in my career thus far. This is thanks to the collaboration with Mattson, whose gift of being able to bring intimacy and subtle nuance to epic genre concepts helps make them feel personal as much as bombastic. It’s also an opportunity for us to embrace and play with what makes the medium of sequential art so unique and give readers a tailored, stylistic experience to every sequence.”
A Vicious Circle #1 will be available for purchase in December.
