Japanese light novel series ‘Ishura’ to receive anime adaptation by Kadokawa

Ishura, a series of light novels, will get a TV anime adaptation, announced Kadokawa. Two cast members as well as two series-related visuals were also made public along with the announcement.

Soujiro the Willow-Sword, played by Yuuki Kaji, will be the main character in the anime series, whereas Yuno the Distant Talon will be voiced by Reina Ueda. Kadokawa only revealed two cast members at the time the TV anime was announced. Fans will have to wait to watch the official trailer for the upcoming series as well as learn more about the crew and other cast members. There are undoubtedly fans waiting for the release of this TV anime because the light novel series won the tankōbon, novel, and new title categories in the 2021 edition of Takarajimasha’s Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! guidebook as the light novel series with the most recorded votes ever in the guidebook’s history.

The novels are being published in English by Yen Press, which describes the series as follows: In a world where the Demon King has died, a host of demigods capable of felling him have inherited the world. A master fencer who can figure out how to take out their opponents with a single glance; a lancer so swift they can break the sound barrier; a wyvern rogue who fights with three legendary weapons at once; an all-powerful wizard who can speak thoughts into being; an angelic assassin who deals instant death. Eager to attain the title of “True Hero,” these champions each pursue challenges against formidable foes and spark conflicts among themselves. The battle to determine the mightiest of the mighty begins.

In 2017, the novel’s serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō and Kakuyomu websites started. The series’ first volume was released in September 2019 by Kadokawa, and the seventh volume will be available on 17 February. In March 2021, Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine published the first issue of Meguri’s manga adaption. In December 2021, the manga’s second volume was released.

Kadokawa announces ‘Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun’ sequel anime

According to a statement made earlier by Kadokawa, a sequel anime to Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun is in development. In September of last year, the TV anime’s second season came to an end. At this point, it is unknown if the new sequel project is a third season of the TV anime Made in Abyss or another film. The adventure of Riko, Reg, and Nanachi was summarized in a recap video that was shared.

Fans are urged to wait for a while in the announcement. The narrative of the sixth layer of the Abyss was concluded in the Made in Abyss season two finale. It is unclear when the sequel might arrive because the manga is just three chapters ahead of the anime at the moment. The current watch order for Kinema Citrus’ anime series Made in Abyss is:

  1. Made in Abyss
    1. Made in Abyss: Marulk’s Daily Life (after the 8th episode of the first season)
    2. Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn (recap movie)
    3. Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight (recap movie)
  2. Made in Abyss Movie: Dawn of the Deep Soul
  3. Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Season 2)

Sentai Filmworks, which is broadcasting the series on the streaming platform HIDIVE, provided the following description of the sequel: There is no going back for Riko, Reg, and Nanachi, and the only way forward is to the bottom of the Abyss. However, the three friends weren’t the first to enter the unknown. Whatever happened to all the other explorers who braved the Abyss?

Netflix announces new project ‘Gamera: Rebirth’, teaser revealed

Netflix has announced a new project, Gamera: Rebirth, which will be available on the platform worldwide at a later date. Kadokawa did not reveal the format of the new work, but the teaser trailer is streaming on Kadokawa’s anime YouTube channel.

The announcement is also notable because filmmaker Shusuke Kaneko, who previously directed the Gamera trilogy in the 1990s, has pledged his full support to the project.

The Tamashii Nation 2022 event, which runs from Friday through Sunday, will feature a scale figure display for the project. The project’s images will also feature on Tokyo’s Tōkyū Tōyoko train line’s Shibuya Super Board and Osaka’s Umeda Bigman billboard.

Daiei’s 1965 film Daikaij Gamera introduced the enormous, fire-breathing turtle monster Gamera. Daiei planned for the film to compete with TOHO’s similarly successful monster movie Godzilla. Chiisaki Ysha-tachi Gamera, the franchise’s 12th and the most recent film, was released in 2006.
