According to a statement made earlier by Kadokawa, a sequel anime to Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun is in development. In September of last year, the TV anime’s second season came to an end. At this point, it is unknown if the new sequel project is a third season of the TV anime Made in Abyss or another film. The adventure of Riko, Reg, and Nanachi was summarized in a recap video that was shared.
Fans are urged to wait for a while in the announcement. The narrative of the sixth layer of the Abyss was concluded in the Made in Abyss season two finale. It is unclear when the sequel might arrive because the manga is just three chapters ahead of the anime at the moment. The current watch order for Kinema Citrus’ anime series Made in Abyss is:
Made in Abyss
Made in Abyss: Marulk’s Daily Life (after the 8th episode of the first season)
Made in Abyss: Journey’s Dawn (recap movie)
Made in Abyss: Wandering Twilight (recap movie)
Made in Abyss Movie: Dawn of the Deep Soul
Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun (Season 2)
Sentai Filmworks, which is broadcasting the series on the streaming platform HIDIVE, provided the following description of the sequel: There is no going back for Riko, Reg, and Nanachi, and the only way forward is to the bottom of the Abyss. However, the three friends weren’t the first to enter the unknown. Whatever happened to all the other explorers who braved the Abyss?
The second season of Tokyo Mew Mew New, the revival of the Shojo classic from the 2000s, will premiere on television in April 2023.
The information was shared along with a brand-new teaser that featured the show’s lead character Ichigo Momomiya and her fellow Mew Mews on the official Twitter page of the series. Coincidently, the premiere of season two marks the anniversary of manga’s original completion, which was 4 April 2003 when the last volume was released. Interestingly, it also celebrates the 65th anniversary of Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine which serialised Tokyo Mew Mew.
All five of the Mew Mews and other members of the main cast will reprise their season one roles. Ichigo will once more be portrayed by Yuki Tenma, Minto Aizawa by Mirai Hinata, and Lettuce Midorikawa by Ryoko Juni. Pudding Fong and Zakuro Fujiwara will be voiced by Rian Toda and Momoka Ishii, respectively. The other recurring cast members are Yuichi Nakamura as Ryo Shirogane and Yuma Uchida as Masaya Aoyama, love interest of Ichigo.
A number of promotional activities have already been scheduled for Tokyo Mew Mew New’s upcoming season. On 7-8 January 2023, a live cast reading of one of the scripts will take place at Tokyo’s Jiji Press Hall. Smewthies, a J-pop idol group composed of the five main cast members, will perform live on 22 November, during a Christmas event on 22 December, and in March 2023. The group is also working on a new record, which will be published on 18 January.
On TV Tokyo and its affiliate stations, season two of Tokyo Mew Mew New will air. The series will be simulcast on HIDIVE as it airs in Japan. Season one of the show is streamable on HIDIVE for those who want to catch up before season two. Kodansha Comics has the manga in English for purchase.
