CN introduces new range of Beyblade merchandise

Cartoon Network Enterprises has extended the Beyblade phenomena among kids with the launch of Beyblade merchandise across five new categories including apparel, innerwear, bags, plasticware and party products.

Cartoon Network Enterprises, the specialized licensing and merchandising division of the kids’ channel Cartoon Network and the Indian representative of Beyblade- Japan, have introduced this new range of Beyblade merchandise.

After the response to Cartoon Network’s Hojaye Shuru! – The Beyblade Championship, the launch Beyblade merchandise was a natural step forward for Cartoon Network Enterprises, adds the release.

“Beyblade has become the biggest phenomenon largely by leveraging the 360 degrees might of Cartoon Network. To fulfill the overwhelming demand the property has created, Cartoon Network Enterprises has launched five new categories of branded Beyblade merchandise, especially in time for the new school sessions. We are confident that kids’ will enjoy sporting the range of Beyblade apparel, innerwear, bags, plastics and party products,” said Cartoon Network Enterprises – India & South Asia director Jiggy George.

Funskool marketing manager David Selvaraj said, “Beyblade has kicked off a massive interest in the organized toy market as a product category that is backed by kids’ TV channel Cartoon Network. Beyblade is one of the most popular kids’ shows on Indian television. This magic percolated to the toy industry too with Funskool Beyblades breaking all records of toy sales in India. To date, Funskool has sold over a 1,000,000 pieces of Beyblade and the market still seems to be asking for more!”

The apparel range is priced between Rs 345 to 425, innerwear range between Rs 55 to 215, bags between Rs 295 to 645, plastics between Rs 28 to 160 and party products between Rs 20 to 299.

This new range of products will be available at over 1200 outlets across 20 cities, including Shoppers’ Stop, Pantaloon, Lifestyle, Ebony, Globus, Liliput, Piramyd, Spencer’s and Hypercity stores across the country.

Cartoon Network Enterprises marked its foray into “third party licensing” with the management of the Beyblade property rights in August last year. They tested the market with Beyblade toys and appointed Funskool as the key retailer, producer and distributor in India, adds the release.
