While superhero movies are everywhere, it’s not easy to have the same extraordinary life as Zack Snyder’s Justice League. After years of fan campaigns, the director’s cut made it on HBO Max in its four-hour glory. The film easily topped the NPD VideoScan First Alert chart, which tracks combined Blu-ray disc unit and DVD sales, in the week that ended on 11 September.
As reported by Media Play News, Blu-ray Disc formats accounted for 75 per cent of Zack Snyder’s Justice League‘s first-week unit sales. Out of that, 38 per cent of the film’s total numbers came from 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, which means 37 per cent of units sold were Blu-ray and 25 per cent of units sold were DVDs.
For months after its release, the only way to watch Zack Snyder’s Justice League was by streaming it on HBO Max. This was a major selling point for the new streaming service, but now fans can own their very own copy. The news of Zack Snyder’s Justice League sales going wild has been doing the rounds after a few weeks’ release in the United States. The movie was first available to own in the U.S. on 7 September, before extending to Canada on 14 September. The response was so good that the DC blockbuster reportedly outsold the number two title on the charts by a five-to-one margin.
Also popularly known as Synder’s Cut, the superhero flick finished ahead of Warner’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, which dropped to number two on the overall chart. The horror movie also dropped one spot on the Blu-ray disc chart to number. Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard was the number three overall disc seller and the number two Blu-ray.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is currently available on HBO Max, as well as on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD. The next DC movie coming to theaters is The Batman on 4 March 2022.
