Felix Kjellberg more famously known as Pewdiepie, the name which has been the most popular among the YouTube gamer community as the guy who makes those crazy hilarious videos playing games and making those trademark voices has hit gold earning $7.4 million in revenue in 2014.
He currently has over 37 million subscribers on his YouTube channel and has over 9 billion hits overall and this has been his primary source of income where the video hits and the ads on them have made him a millionaire he is today. The recent reveal of his earnings drew a lot of criticism from people who are asking why a guy sitting on a chair playing games is earning so much, where as people working their ass off get nothing.
In response to the critics, the Swedish gamer posted a video called “Let’s Talk About Money” on his channel.
“A lot of people which I saw were very very angry. They thought it was unfair. They thought I just sit on my ass all day, and I just yell at the screen over here. Which is true! But there’s so much more to it than that,” he said in the video, adding that he used to work at a hot dog stand to make money to put towards creating the videos.
“I knew people were big at other types of videos, but there was no one big in gaming, and I didn’t know you could make money out of it,” he said.
Since Kjellberg is raking in so much moolah, the thought of charity has not evaded his mind. He has raised a million dollars for a charity but no one wrote about it instead everyone is breaking their sweat on how much money he makes.
“It seems like the whole world cares more about how much money I make than I do myself,” he said.
In 2013 too it had become one of the talking points when The Wall Street Journal article said that the YouTube personality made $4 million. Then he had hosted a Reddit AMA answering questions about his income, charity and videos he makes.
