The Digital HD of X-Men: Apocalypse has been released and to celebrate the film’s digital release, many deleted scenes from the movie have been released. This time, it’s the shopping mall scene wherein the young mutants can be seen scouting around the mall of 1980s.
The three minute footage features Xavier’s Gifted Youngsters Jean Grey, Scott Summers / Cyclops, Juibalation Lee / Jubilee, and Kurt Wagner / Nightcrawler. The clip showcases the four mutants interaction with the human’s, them doing window shopping, playing arcade games and even watching an afternoon show of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi.
Along with this new deleted scene release, an important piece of information was also revealed regarding the post credits scene featured in X-Men: Apocalypse. The scene teases the introduction of one of the Marvel Comics’ best villains: the genetics-obsessed Mister Sinister. And now, CinemaBlend reported Mister Sinister will be the villain in The Wolverine 3.
In the post credit scene, it was observed that post the fiasco created by Wolverine at the Weapon X facility at Alkali Lake, a group of men walk into the area, led by a guy in a business suit and thick black glasses, and while some of them are clearly assigned to clean the place, the others have more specific jobs. The man in the glasses goes into a cabinet and grabs the blood / DNA of Weapon X a.k.a. James Howlett a.k.a. Logan a.k.a. Wolverine. He puts this sample in a briefcase with a lid hiding its contents, and it’s then that we see that the men are representatives from Essex Corp., the company owned by Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mister Sinister.
Attached to the digital release is the audio commentary which features Simon Kinberg and director Bryan Singer who discuss the Deadpool 2 teaser idea that they ultimately had to scrap, but wrap up that little bit of trivia by confirming that the Mister Sinister tease is indeed a method of preparing audiences for 2017’s untitled Wolverine 3.
Wolverine 3 would be the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and 2013’s The Wolverine. This would also mark the final appearance of Jackman as Wolverine. Earlier this year, owing to the success of Deadpool, 20th Century Fox revealed at Toy Fair 2016 that they would be targeting an R-rating for Hugh Jackman’s final run as Wolverine next year.
Earlier in April it was learnt that Richard E. Grant was signed on to The Wolverine, and though his character name was kept a secret, the role described was him being a mad scientist. In the comic verse, it was Essex who brought to life Apocalypse who later transformed Essex into an ageless being of extraordinary pallor, with telekinesis in his alien ship. Mister Sinister is also a scientific genius, with expertise in the fields of biology, genetics, cloning, physics, and engineering. The character is a master manipulator and planner, with decades of genetic research at his command. He has been stated to be an Alpha-Level Mutant.
With Mister Sinister’s entry into the X-Men universe, it would be interesting to see how he impacts the X-Men universe as X-Men: Apocalypse was the last of the trilogy and Wolverine 3 would be the last of the Wolverine trilogy.
It is yet to be confirmed if Richard E. Grant would be playing the role of Mister Sinister.
