Till now DC’s most anticipated movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been generating a strong buzz around the two superheroes facing against one another. But there’s one more hero in the picture and that’s none other than Wonder Woman who will be seen for the first time in a live action flick. Following Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, DC Extended Universe is all set to take off next year with not just Batman v Superman but also Suicide Squad.
Joining them would be Wonder Woman’s debut solo movie that’s set to release in 2017. It will be the first motion picture centering around a female superhero in the DC Extended Universe. It’s been said that the film will set back to the origins of Wonder Woman and might be a pre-continuation of Batman v Superman and join the connection between alternate films of the shared universe.
The film has been a work in progress following 2001 when the maker, Joel Silver, concocted a script. Along the years, various movie producers, essayists and makers attempted to finish the motion picture on the Amazonian princess but nothing came of it. Seeing the success of the MCU, DC finally realised it’s high time to construct a mutual universe and therefore, the motion picture thought for Wonder Woman re-emerged. Along with Wonder Woman, many other characters will be seen on the big screen like The Flash, Shazam, Aquaman, Cyborg.
Gal Gadot will be seen playing the Amazonian princess role and starring with her will be Chris Pine who will play the love of Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor. Along with them, actor Saďd Taghmaoui has also joined the team though his role is kept under wraps till date. Nicole Kidman is rumored to be in talks to play Wonder Woman’s mother Hippolyta. Recently, Taghmaoui provided a small clue as to who he’ll be playing in the upcoming Wonder Woman film. The Traitor’s actor told the French magazine Ultra that he would be playing a superhero in the film for which he had to go through extensive physical training.
A photo of him with Chris Pine sporting World War I wardrobe was posted by Taghmaoui (now taken down), confirming that at least part of the story takes place in the past. The working title of the film has been kept as Nightingale so as to keep things low key for people who aren’t aware of what the movie is from snooping around on set. The entire filming will take approximately six months with filming locations in four different countries.
With this photo, it seems like the shooting of Wonder Woman has begun and joining them would be DC Comics CEO Geoff Johns. The shooting will take place in the UK and in Italy. Along with Wonder Woman, Justice League: Part One’s shoot is scheduled to commence in the first or second quarter of next year, and is also said to take place there. Additionally, Heroic Hollywood has a more specific date, citing several sources that claim pre-production for Justice League: Part One will begin on 18 January, 2016 in London.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman is set to debut on 23 June, 2017 followed by Justice League: Part One following year on 17 November, 2017.
