The much in news controversial feature for the WhatsApp users, i.e. the read receipts; the blue ticks that showed up whenever the users read the messages from the messaging app, now has the option of disabling the feature.
The update is available through its official website and is currently available only for Android users. The feature that started rolling out worldwide last week was criticised heavily by the users as it invaded their privacy by revealing the fact that they were ignoring messages.
The Android users can go to the privacy settings in the settings options and disable the read receipts feature. The feature will be on always for group chats but when you disable the feature you won’t be able to see the blue ticks when you send the messages.
WhatsApp now seems to be in damage control mode and wants to please the users who were previously unhappy with the feature.
