The response for Batman v Superman was like a wakeup call for DC/Warner Bros as Birth.Movies.Death website reports that ‘Warner Bros is requesting reshoots’ that would alter the tone of the film, bringing in some more of the lightness. This decision was made post the release of the second trailer of Suicide Squad that showcased an anarchic, darkly humorous film using Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody as the soundtrack.
The second trailer managed to quip the interest of not just DC fans but also any movie buff, something the first trailer couldn’t. And, owing to the tremendous positive reaction for its second trailer and maybe Deadpool’s success story and Batman v Superman’s criticism, WB seems to be in second thoughts.
BMD’s source claims that “Every joke in the movie is in that trailer” and that’s the reason why WB is requesting reshoots that would alter the tone of the film, bringing in some more of the lightness to which audiences responded. This reshoot will offer more humour and lightness that WB lags on.
If the rumour is right then WB will be coughing millions of dollars as the principle work of the movie got wrapped up on 28 August, 2015 and to reshoot the scenes, they will not only have to assemble the actors but also book the location and pay a price for the increased visual effects shots / time frame.
However it seems like April Fool’s Day pranks have started a day earlier in USA. Until and unless WB doesn’t officially say that the reshoot is taking place, it would be hard to believe on a speculative story based on undisclosed sources, that they will be spending another millions of dollars for a reshoot.
If the reshoot is officially taking place, it’s an incredible news for comic and superhero fans as they will get to witness a lighter tone from the DC Cinematic Universe something that was witnessed till date in Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Suicide Squad is slated to release on 5 August. 2016.
