Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has announced the animated musical feature Margie Claus, starring Melissa McCarthy.
Directed by Kirk DeMicco, the film features McCarthy as Margie Claus, with Jim Gaffigan as Santa and Andrew Scott as Jack Frost. The voice cast also includes Annie Mumolo, Georgette Falcone, Octavia Spencer, Gary Farmer, Luis Gerardo Méndez, Cedric Yarbrough and Maria Bakalova. Cole Escola was previously announced as part of the voice cast.
The film is directed by DeMicco from a screenplay by Ben Falcone and Damon Jones. It will feature original songs written and produced by Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum-selling artist Meghan Trainor, along with Falcone and Jones.
Margie Claus is produced by McCarthy and Falcone through their On the Day Productions banner, alongside Academy Award-winning producer Michelle L.M. Wong, who was also a producer on KPop Demon Hunters.
The story follows Margie after Santa goes missing on Christmas Eve. Determined to rescue her husband and save Christmas, she brings a century-old sleigh out of retirement and assembles an unlikely rescue team. Together, they travel to the South Pole, where they embark on an action-packed and comedic mission to bring Santa home.
Producer and voice actor McCarthy said, “I love Christmas so much, and so does Margie Claus.” She described the story as being about showing up for the people you love during the holidays and serving as a reminder that people do not have to be perfect to be lovable.
Warner Bros. Pictures will release Margie Claus in theatres worldwide on 12 November 2027.
