India’s batsman Virat Kohli who has moved to second place in the ICC ODI rankings following his impressive batting show in India’s 5-0 series win over Sri Lanka, has on Monday launched his 3D animated character, website and logo.
Kohli at the launch said, “My super hero avtar can fight monsters like Spiderman and Superman. I don’t think I can do that. I will be very happy to see how he does that.”
“3D animation series very exciting, kids will be inspired by incidents from my life. Hope this becomes popular,” the cricketer added who hit 139 not out in the fifth ODI on Sunday, having earlier scored 66, 53 and 49 to be adjudged man-of-the-series, jumped one place to be behind A B de Villiers of South Africa.
He said, “Difficult to manage everything (brand image commitments) for a sportsman these days – to do well in field and look after other things off it also. I can’t complain right now. This is the age, am 26-27, maybe when I will cut down when 33-34.
Kohli is the first cricketer who has launched his super hero character. Outside India animation characters hugely popular.
On being positioned at number 4 in the batting order he said, “Can’t comment whether I will continue to bat at No 4 or not. I and team had some plans in this series which we executed well. Depends on situation. However, I am learning to play on every position.”
On being asked about Sachin Tendulkar, he said, “Getting close in popularity ratings to someone I idolise (Sachin) very flattering.”
