The Visual Effects Society (VES), known to be the home of visual effects practitioners right form VFX artists to producers, announced the members for its 2016 Board of Directors. The officers, elected at the January 2016 board meeting, will be a part of the VES board executive committee.
Mike Chambers, who has been the visual effects producer for The Dark Knight Rises and The Day After Tomorrow has been reelected as the board chair. Being a member of VES for almost 20 years, Chambers is currently in the post production work for Disney’s Alice Through The Looking Glass.
Apart from Chambers, Jeffrey Okun will serve as first vice chair and Nancy St. John has been elected as second vice chair. The other members include Susan Thurmond O’Neal as the treasurer and Rita Cahill as the secretary.
Mike Chambers has contributed on many Academy and BAFTA award-winning films, and has personally won two VES Awards for Best Visual Effects, for The Day After Tomorrow and Inception while, Okun has won the VES Award for Outstanding Supporting Visual Effects for his work on The Last Samurai. St. John previously served as the first VES Vice Chair while Cahill served as the secretary earlier. O’Neal too has worked in the visual effects industry for over 18 years.
The 2016 Board of Directors of VES thus includes a clan of experienced and veteran minds who are well versed with the knowhow of the visual effects industry and therefore can lead the team to success and higher achievements.
