Vancouver Animation School to begin new production management course

Canada-based online educational institution Vancouver Animation School (VANAS) is accepting applications for its new production management in digital entertainment course. The new one-year online program specialises in learning how to oversee an entire production for animation, visual effects, and video games.

Online classes start on 23 September 2024. To be admitted, prospective students must meet requirements such as minimum age, pass an assessment test, and english language proficiency.

VANAS will promote a free animation webinar to introduce the new course to the public with a warm welcome by faculty head Calvin Leduc and production manager Neha Parischa. The online event will take place on 11 September at 12:00 PM (noon) Pacific Time.

This course provides students with instruction in digital entertainment production, encompassing the coordination and management of digital assets for animation, visual effects, and video game projects. Through a diverse curriculum of assignments, students learn to oversee digital artists, schedule productions, coordinate digital processes, formulate budgets, and effectively create, organise, and optimise digital assets.

Through lectures, readings, and practical exercises, students will learn the basics of planning, executing, and controlling projects across different industries.  The course covers essential topics such as project scope, pipeline basics, breakdowns, and other business production-related aspects.

Teachers include Parischa, who worked on productions such as Dog & Pony Show and Daniel Spellbound, and Kajal Patil, who contributed to shows like Sausage Party: Foodtopia, Happy House of Frightenstein, and Alice’s Wonderland Bakery.

Founded in 2010, Vancouver Animation School is a fully accredited online school offering advanced programs for the animation, visual effects, and video game industries. The company offers vocational certificates, diplomas, and university pathways in a variety of art and technology, media, and design fields. In 2013, VANAS became the first 100 per cent online institution to be fully accredited, and opened its USA Branch in 2021.
