The Academy Awards announced its top 10 nominees in the VFX and animation short film categories for the upcoming ninety-first Oscars.
Marvel Studios alone, rakes up as much as three places in the list with all its 2018 releases – Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp, all edging within the top 10. Some other big shouts of the year such as Solo: A Star Wars Story, as well as Steven Spielberg’s cult cyberpunk Ready Player One
Come January, and the list would be further whittled down to only five that will then contest for the gong.

The ninety-first Oscars will be held on Sunday, 24 February 2019, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscars also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
