‘Animation Masters Summit’ is just around the corner! The event conceived by Toonz Media Group way back in 1999 is back again this year to appreciate and honour the animation industry of India.
The capital city Trivandrum of the flora and fauna rich state Kerala will witness the conglomeration of animation and visual effects experts and animation lovers celebrating the ‘Spirit of Animation’ at the two-day summit on 6 and 7 May, 2016 at Technopark. The event will be led by creative wizards of national and international repute convening to share their expertise and experiences with passionate animation professionals and aspiring young talent.
This year the event will witness a cross-section of mastery in animation, visual effects and media industry. The eminent masters for this year include the famous series Oggy and the Cockroaches, creator and director, Olivier Jean-Marie; art director, Sabu Cyril; Chota Bheem, creator Rajiv Chilaka; Arjun, the Warrior Prince, director, Arnab Chaudhuri; renowned painter, sculptor, animator and filmmaker Charuvi Agarwal; Youtube Kids and Learning Channels, APAC head, Don Anderson and Northern Europe strategic partner Cedric Petitpas and head of mechanic animation in Wellingdon, New Zealand Greg Harman.
The summit will witness talks, interactive workshops, and panel discussions on relevant topics of the industry and honour Padma Shri Ram Mohan as the ‘Legend of Animation’ and also the winners of the ‘Flying Elephant Competition’.
“It is a privilege for all of us at Toonz to have the esteemed presence of the Father of Indian Animation, Padma Shri Ram Mohan at the summit. He is a veteran animator, title designer and and design educator and has been an inspiration and mentor to aspiring artists, animators, creators and storytellers in India and worldwide. He is currently the chairman and chief creative officer of Graphiti Multimedia in Mumbai and the founder of Graphiti School of Animation. Toonz Media Group shall be honouring Padma Shri Ram Mohan with the Life Time Achievement Award at the Animation Masters Summit,” said Toonz Media Group, CEO, P Jayakumar.
He added, “Animation Masters Summit will be a great platform for the young to interact with the masters and an opportunity for the masters to present their works to other masters and also animation professionals.”
Toonz had announced ‘The Flying Elephant Animation & Short Film Competition’ as part of the Animation Masters Summit earlier. “We have already received over 500 applications from across the South East Asia for the four categories announced. Our Jury will be shortlisting 16 best entries for the four categories and the masters will be finalising the winners. The winners will be awarded the Flying Elephant Trophy at an award ceremony on 7 May, 2016,” he added.
The summit is open to all animation enthusiasts and students. They can interact with the masters attending the event at Technopark on these two days.
