The 18th TIFF International Film Festival that is set to be held in Toronto, Canada from 7 to 19 April, will open with Shaun the Sheep from Aardman Studios and close with When Marnie Was There from Studio Ghibli.
“We are thrilled to be opening the 2015 TIFF Kids Festival with the Canadian premiere of the highly anticipated Shaun the Sheep: The Movie. The film – which is dialogue-free – is full of Chaplinesque physical comedy and clever pop-culture references. It’s a movie that kids and parents will love equally,” said TIFF Kids Director Elizabeth Muskala.
This year, there are 126 films, comprising 25 features and 101 shorts from 36 countries such as Australia, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, France, India, Russia, etc.
The festival will also see animated shorts of the Looney Tunes and Peanuts targeted to kids aged 3 to 13. The short programmes consists of 101 films that address a range of subject matters which are relevant to kids of today such as friendship, courage, bullying, teamwork etc. Each short is about 60 to 80 minute long.
