Video consumption on varied platforms; be it online, TV, outdoor or other mediums, is constantly on the rise and when there is a requirement there needs to be someone or something working towards fulfilling it. Here is where a small start-up going by the name The Square Peg Films (TSPF) comes to mind.
TSPF co-founders Praveen Sharma and Pooja Mishra open up to AnimationXpress.com on their work, the thought of beginning a start-up and really being open to associating with anyone and everyone.
“Firstly let me clarify, we are not just an animation film studio, we are more of an end to end video production agency if we can say so,” explains Pooja. The company began operations in August last year and in a span of nearly 10 months has over 20 short films, TVCs, videos, infomercials, etc to its credit.
Praveen adds: “The thought of starting our own venture was to cater to the need of friendly production houses, which I feel is lacking. Our USP is that we don’t focus on any one particular area, and our creative as well as marketing prowess really helps us score over other leading houses.”
The core team comprises of 13 guys operating from different areas in Mumbai along with freelancers coming in on a project to project basis. “I truly believe that less number of people working on one assignment leads to a much better focused approach on a finished product,” reveals Praveen.
TSPF has worked with some really well known brands like: MTS, Rediff, Thomas Cook, Puma, Oakley, Aegis, among others. “We can’t really be choosy as this stage and just want to do great work; we approach each video very differently and treat it as per the brief and our creative understanding with a very unique message. Money is not the only answer, for a start-up nothing matters more than just completing the first three projects,” he exults.
The company has already recovered its initial investments, and on the completion of a year soon will look at expanding not only in terms of assignments on board but also in terms of the workforce. “I believe what has really helped us grow is the fact that we have never said no to anyone, be it a client having only a few thousands to spend or a big brand willing to shell out even a few lakhs,” Pooja adds.
The idiom square peg in a round hole really does resonate well with The Square Peg Films, but it certainly is no misfit when it comes to delivering quality work for its clients. “We invest time in associating with people to try our services and then they themselves come back to us on the basis of our dedication and commitment. The market for videos of all kinds is really improving and people are more open to exploring different ways in which videos can be used to communicate their message,” both Praveen and Pooja end.
