The Royal Television Society (RTS) has announced the winners of its 2018 Craft & Design Awards last night at a prestigious awards ceremony at the London Hilton on Park Lane, which was hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen (Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown).
The RTS Craft & Design Awards recognise excellence in broadcast television in 29 categories from directing to make-up design. The BBC led the way taking home an impressive set of 16 awards, with A Very English Scandal and Retreat: Meditations from a Monastery both winning two awards each. The Windsors Royal Wedding Special from Channel 4 also garnered two awards, bringing the broadcaster’s total number of awards on the night to six.
The London Studios former managing director Kathy Schulz received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of the professionalism, passion, honesty and loyalty she has demonstrated throughout her career and the dedication and expertise she has provided to the industry.
Craft & Design Awards chair Lee Connolly said, “The jury has had some extremely hard decisions to make this year, with the range of outstanding programming being made in the UK. We are excited to celebrate both UK content and talent this evening and award the well-deserved winners.”
