With Pokemon Go spreading its wings globally, fans of the game might be a little disappointed to know that the Pokemon World Championships 2016 will not feature any event related to Niantic’s augmented reality game.
The event will not be open to the general public this time as the apparent reason is “unprecedented response from invited players planning to attend”. Only the players who possess the official badges meant for the invited players would be allowed into the venue (and their families).
The Pokemon World Championship this year would have a combined prize pool of $500,000 in the form of scholarships and travels. The organizers have recently revealed the full schedule of the event which you can check below.
The event will be taking place from 19 August to 21 August in San Francisco where players from more than 35 countries are expected to participate. The players have been selected through the 2016 Championship series. If you want to watch all the action this year, you have to resort to their live streams of the events.
