The new teaser of ‘Wazir’ is an editor’s delight

The year end is going to witness a mega star cast coming together for one hell of a thriller under the Vinod Chopra Films banner in ‘Wazir’ (which was earlier known by the working title of 64 Squares). The film boasts of a stellar line-up that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Aditi Rao Hydari, along with Neil Nitin Mukesh playing a psychotic antagonist and John Abraham in a pivotal role.

This is the third outing for Bejoy Nambiar in the director’s chair after Shaitan and David, and it seems he’s found his comfort zone in dealing with complicated stories although this feature is the brainchild of the magnificent duo of Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Abhijat Joshi.

The trailer kicks-off with a dejected Farhan Akhtar standing in the middle of nowhere followed by flashes of Aditi Rao Hydari and Amitabh Bachchan in different moods, quickly cutting to a round house shot of Neil Nitin uttering the words of the famous song of the 1983 movie Masoom ‘Lakdi Ki Kathi’ in an evil voice.

What follows are some pacy action sequences accompanied by intriguing music given by Gaurav Godkhindi and a passing scene of a beefed up John Abraham pushing open a rackety old window in special armed forces uniform.

In the final scene we see Farhan and Amitabh indulging in a game of Chess and Amitabh leaving us with the words: “Khel Khel Mein, Khel Kheliyein, Khel Aa Jayega, Aapki Chaal”.

The teaser is edited by Ashish Suryavanshi and the director of photography is Sanu Varghese. There must be a special mention for the way the trailer has been edited, because it has seriously managed to leave a big question mark on what the story is all about, while at the same time managed to give a few hints as to where the story could be leading towards.

Rajkumar Hirani is also on board as a producer for the film after the success of PK, which is currently the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time. Vazir seems to have used the help of VFX in giving a different shade to the character of Amitabh, who is seen in the trailer sitting on a wheelchair with no legs, why is that we will get to know only when either a newer trailer is released going ahead or we will have to wait until December to catch the movie in theatres.

Speaking at the unveiling of the teaser for media, Chopra, who has produced the film with Rajkumar Hirani, said the script wasn’t an easy task for the makers.

“We’ve spent five years to create the characters of Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar. I’m extremely grateful to them for bringing these characters to life,” said Chopra, who was also a co-writers of the film along with Abhijat Joshi.
