Good news for all the fans of Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and iZombie! The CW has renewed all ten of its currently airing series, including the hit DC comic based TV series Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow along with DC/Vertigo’s iZombie.
Over here, Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow share the same universe and got a blanket renewal for their fifth, third, and second seasons respectively whereas iZombie doesn’t have anything to do with these three series and with this renewal gets the third season as well. Other shows are Jane the Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Supernatural, The 100, The Vampire Diaries, and The Originals with an eleventh show returning this summer – Reign. Beauty and the Beast is not on list as it’s going to came back this summer for a fourth and final season. These 11 series got an early renewal from the CW president, Mark Pedowitz for the 2016-2017 season.
“The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas,” said Pedowitz in a press release. “As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017.”
Seems like turning comic books into live action series has played out well for The CW as DC Comics shows are ruling the program rankings at the CW, with The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow as the top three shows in total viewers number.
