Telltale’s new miniseries release focuses on The Walking Dead’s Michonne

The comic adapted show, The Walking Dead has since its inception managed to have a strong following for not just its comic but also its TV show. Owing to the response which it’s been getting, it got a video game under its hood by Telltale games which has been critically acclaimed, with reviewers praising the harsh emotional tone of the story. And now, Telltale has launched the first installment of a three episode arc of its Michonne miniseries, which takes the character (voiced by Samira Wiley) away from the group including Rick and Carl.

Michonne who’s been played by Danai Gurira in the TV series is one of the main character TWD series and has been a favourite of fans who read Robert Kirkman‘s original comics and followed AMC‘s hit TV series. The importance of the character felt missing in the game universe and for that, Telltale had announced in June 2015 that they will be coming out with the miniseries where the ruthless, katana-wielding woman who’s been with Rick Grimes’ crew in the comics for the past 10 years will star.

TWD: Michonne game focuses on the dual-katana wielding character and covers the events between issues #126 and #139 of the comic series, explaining her departure from the Grimes’ group and why she returns. The game won’t have anything to do with the new episodes, but instead players will follow along as Michonne turns pirate and hits the zombie infested high seas.

The first episode In Too Deep, features Michonne sailing with a crew as they search for supplies and other living people and eventually come upon a floating colony of survivors. Here’s the synopsis for the first episode: In this premiere episode, Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship ‘The Companion’ as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies. When a desperate signal for help draws them to a scene of horrific massacre, Michonne and the crew are lead further to the floating survivors’ colony of Monroe, which may just be harboring the person responsible for the carnage.

The second episode, Give No Shelter will be released next month followed by the concluding episode What We Deserve in April. The Telltale Michonne miniseries is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 3 and 4, and Xbox One and 360. And it will arrive on Android and iOS on 25 February.
