Technicolor is expanding its animation and games division with the appointment of Sean Mullen as creative director and David Kern as games technical director.
Mullen and Kern will be based at Technicolor’s animation studio in Bangalore, India.
In addition, Owen Hurley, the studio’s previous creative director, has assumed a larger role in creative management and execution as executive director of creative, based at the company’s Hollywood headquarters.
Hurley will continue to report to Robert Winthrop, head of animation and games for Technicolor, and Mullen and Kern will report to Hurley.
Mullen joins Technicolor from Disney Interactive where, for the past two years, he has worked as marketing animation lead on the Disney Infinity game franchise, overseeing animation and developing story. Previously, Mullen has worked in various feature film posts in both animation and story with Prana Studios, Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Kern joins Technicolor from nobodinos llc, a company he founded in 2012, which produced the mobile and Facebook game Bottom Feeders. Previously, Kern worked in various technical and creative capacities with Zipper Interactive, where he spent 17 years working on top video game titles.
