Anifest India is back to gear up all the animation lovers be it young enthusiasts, upcoming artists, veteran professionals, creative minds and great legends of the industry. The Animation Society of India (TASI) is all pumped up to organise its renowned festival Anifest India 2016 which is set to take place starting from 26 August to 28 August, 2016.
TASI which has been in existence since 2001 has been organising this well celebrated festival in order to educate and enlighten the masses about the animation industry and its creations. This 12th edition of Anifest aims to upscale its reach and provide extensive exposure to the attendees.
The first day of the event will include the screening of Laika’s Kubo and the Two Strings at Whistling Woods International, Goregaon East, Mumbai. The other two days of the fest will include various sessions being held at Jai Hind College, Churchgate, Mumbai. The tentative sessions for 27 August include:-
- Character Design and Development with Dattaraj Kamat
- Blender and its potential with Niyal Parmar and Pratik Solanki from Weybec Studio
- Photogrammetry 3D Scanning and its Application in the Film and Gaming Industry with Anant Haldia from I-C-E Studio
- Behind the Scenes of ‘The Jungle Book’ with Amit Sharma from MPC
While, 28 August will showcase various sessions like:-
- Style and its evolution in Animation with Hans Bacher
- Independent short film showcase ‘Every Drop Counts’ by Dhimant Vyas
- Life-cycle of a Gaming Asset with Shyam Deshpande and Arnab Roy from Zynga Games
- Vote of Thanks & Volunteer felicitation
- Student short film showcase ‘Chaaya’ by Debanjan Nandy
- India Premier of Anima Instanbul’s Turkish animated feature film ‘Bad Cat’
Thus, the attendees will have the privilege to witness two most celebrated animated films Kubo and the Two Strings and Bad Cat. Also, Debanjan Nandy’s Chhaya and Dhimant Vyas’ Every Drop Counts will add to the pool of creativity and knowledge.
Besides witnessing such creative work, the attendees will get a chance to meet legendary animator Hans Bacher who is the creative mind behind epic films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Aladdin, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Balto, Hercules, Fantasia 2000, Lilo and Stitch and many more.
Dhimant Vyas is a veteran who has worked on projects like Shaun the Sheep Movie and Taare Zameen Par. He is known for his expertise mainly in stop motion animation. Sketching, drawing and character design is Dattaraj Kamat’s forte as he surpasses all boundaries of creativity and limitations with his unique art style.
Having worked at well established studios like Industrial Light & Magic, Rising Sun Pictures, Rhythm & Hues, Amit Sharma now serves as the head of compositing at MPC. The Jungle Book is undoubtedly a phenomenal project in terms of both animation and VFX which was worked by exemplary artists at MPC in Bangalore. Well for gaming enthusiasts, Shyam Deshpande and Arnab Roy from Zynga Games are the pillars to look up to for they have their feet set in the whole concept art process for various games.
Anifest India 2016 is fest eagerly awaited by the layman and the creative industry too.
